Ger might be a Limerick native, but her student training days have given her Galway girl status! Thinking that was not enough, she set her sights to the big smoke for some new research adventures. It was then down to some statistical chance that she stumbled across this Danny character. After braving the cold and rain for many an evening chat, Ger was persuaded to go on a first date with him one fine March day.
The DanGer adventures began. From squeezing through caves systems and hopping on short ski trips, Ger has shown a consistent ability to try new things. She rocks at challenges too, whether it's solving puzzles, knitting animals, or juggling two jobs. Ger is a fantastic cook, and somehow always aims to add another ingredient to the mix. There also seems to be a strategy to get Danny in the coffee club, but so far, it has not worked.
Danny's early childhood revolved around life in Waterfall, with happy cows in their fields. After undergraduate, he pursued further studies despite having to move to the "other capital". Here, he dabbled with the dark side of numbers, and asked a certain nameless petite classmate out on a date. As their relationship grew from enigmatic origins, Danny planned the first of their mystery dates, which has since led to television studio, spectacular acrobatics, international getaways and more.
However, the most amazing mystery had to be their weekend in Kerry, 2018, where Danny brought Ger to a lavish hotel, and made a steganographic proposal, under guise of a personalised crossword. Danny has a great sense of navigation, and sense of balance on those hiking trails which she can just about follow. She knows there'll be food and Podcast entertainment to follow!
The wedding ceremony took place in the 'Boat house' on the grounds of Ashley Park House. The groom and guests were gathered by 2:30pm, and the bride didn't keep everyone waiting too long. The ceremony was officiated by Siobhán Walls and music was by Eve Stafford. The day was perfect (we might be biased!) and all were welcomed to a glorious March afternoon for the reception drinks and canapes afterwards.
Guests were invited to take their seats in the pavilion around 6pm. Each table was named after a podcast and had a crossword puzzle for the guests to solve (the answers were the guests names!). The food options were chosen (beef or seabass anyone?) and by all accounts, the meal was thoroughly enjoyed. The night then brought speeches (including a PowerPoint ambush), musical entertainment from the Bentley Boys (starting off with 'Something Just Like This'), plenty dancing, and some fun with a photobooth. We slept happy that night.
Those coping with the Bridezilla:
Those keeping the Groom's feet warm:
We would sincerely like to thank each and every one of you. We were honoured to have so many of our family and friends with us on the day. We know it's not always easy to make that journey. To those of you who travelled far, those who were close by, those who had to arrnage babysitters and more, those who missed flights and couldn't make it -- we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Geraldine and Danny
